FAQs

If my application is successful when will I start?

Those who are chosen for this year’s RDP will start in September 2012.

What is the difference between the two routes?

With the Lord Ashcroft International Business School you will be employed by Barclays from day one; with the Nottingham Business School route you will spend your first year in university and then years 2 and 3 employed by Barclays.

How will I be supported?

You will be fully supported during your time on the programme; this will be through an academic mentor, your Line Manager, the Programme Manager and your assigned buddy.

Where will I be based?

When you enter onto the programme we do our best to place you in your preferred location throughout the UK. However please be aware that you need to be flexible to relocate if necessary.

Can existing Barclays employees apply?

The short answer is yes; although we would point out that the RDP is best suited to those at an early stage in their career. The application and assessment process will follow the same process as that of external candidates.

What days/hours will I be working?

You are contracted to be in branch 35 hours a week. These hours will be over five days, Monday to Saturday.

What if I leave Barclays whilst still on the programme?

We hope you won’t want too! But if you do leave for any reason (except ill health, retirement or redundancy) either during the degree course or within 36 months of securing a permanent role, you will be required to repay a proportion of the tuition fees as per you contractual agreement.

Will I be provided with a uniform?

Because this is a branch-based programme, yes you will. Don’t worry, this isn’t the typical stuffy bank uniform that you may think! It has recently been redesigned and looks sharp in-branch no matter your colouring, size, shape or style!
